LDSS Health and Physical Education Policies
Teacher: Mr. Nurse
Attendance:
Physical Education is a "participatory based" subject area. A student who does not "participate" is therefore limiting the teacher's ability to make a thorough evaluation. To ensure success in the course, students must attend class, actively participate with a positive attitude, AND be fully prepared daily. Students are also expected to take the initiative to catch up on missed course work when absent from school by consulting a fellow student in the class prior to returning.
Rules and Expectations:
**If you hear a whistle, STOP what you are doing immediately and look to the teacher
Uniform and Enhancement Fee $30.00
What to do if you forget your uniform?
Safety: Students are expected to be safe and follow the proper procedures at all times.
Injuries- All injuries that occur during class must be reported to the teacher no matter how minor. *Students must be aware that the use of the gymnasium or weight room without teacher supervision is strictly forbidden. This includes before school, lunch hour and after school.*
Dressing Room and Valuables:
Students are to remember that all rules that apply in the gymnasium/classroom are also in effect in the change room. Respect the rights and dignity of each student.
Do not leave money or valuables in the change room or in your gym bag. They should be left in your locker.
Lateness:
Each student is expected to report to the change room area and be changed by the tone, which signifies the beginning of the period. This applies to all periods of the day. There will be time set aside to change at the end of the period. Students must remain in the P.E. corridor until the tone.
Gym Offices:
The gym offices are for the use of your instructors. Please knock and wait for permission to enter.
Equipment Policy:
Any student responsible for the breakage of equipment due to negligence or deliberate misuse will be expected to pay the full cost of repairing or replacing the item.
Protocol for being “Excused” from Physical Education
Students who are to be excused without penalty for more than two classes musthave a note from a Doctor or Nurse practitioner stating the length of time off and any restricted activities. If you are to be excused without penalty for one or two days, a note from your parent or guardian is required. Students are still required to change into their P.E. uniform where possible, for restricted activities.
Re-direction
If any student behaviour is not appropriate for the learning environment, appropriate re-direction will be applied.
Failure to follow class rules is considered to be insubordination and will result in removal from class
